Resveratrol is a natural antibiotic (phytoalexin) produced by plants as
part of their defensive arsenal against invading pathogens. Resveratrol is also one of about 300 salvestrols, natural
anti-malignancy compounds, found in all living cells. Malignant cells
contain an enzyme, CYP1B1, which combines with salvestrol to produce a
toxin which kills the abnormal or malignant cell.
Resveratrol is found in significant amounts in grapes and peanuts. In
grapes, Resveratrol is concentrated in the skin. It is also found in
Japanese Knotweed.
- 180 grams of boiled peanuts contains .32 to 1.28 mg of Resveratrol
- 160 grams of red grapes contains .24 to 1.25 mg of Resveratrol
In animal experiments on rats and mice, Resveratrol was
found to have very positive effects against cancer and inflammation.
It was found to lower blood-sugar levels and to promote cardiovascular
health. Specifically the findings pointed to:
- Lower cholesterol levels
- Reduced inflammation of heart tissue
- Better bone health, increased density, thickness, volume and mineral content
- Reduced cataract formation
- Enhanced balance and motor nerve coordination
- Improved liver function, skeletal muscle and reduced fatty tissue deposits
(These results were reported on July 3, 2008 by the US National Institute on Aging, NIH News, U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services)
Other animal experiments have
shown that Resveratrol has life-extension benefits; commensurate with
the results seen from extreme calorie-restrictive diets.
These animal experiments have made Resveratrol a hot topic. It's been
seen by some as a possible miracle vitamin for preventing chronic
degenerative diseases and as a supplement which could slow down the
aging process.
It has yet to be proven that the studies conducted on animals will carry over to human populations. Nonetheless, these studies have shown that the action of Resveratrol on
cell metabolism reduces the effects of oxidation. This means that Resveratrol has strong anti-oxidant properties and can reduce cellular
free radical cell damage.
Some human studies have shown that Resveratrol has anti-cancer properties. Resveratrol has been proven to interrupt cancer growth:
"Because resveratrol
(trans-3,4',5-trihydroxystilbene) is reported to display anti-tumor
activities on a variety of human cancer cells, we investigated the
effects of this natural compound on myeloma and bone cells. We found
that resveratrol reduces dose-dependently the growth of myeloma cell
lines (RPMI 8226 and OPM-2) by a mechanism involving cell
apoptosis...Taken together, these results suggest that resveratrol or
its derivatives deserve attention as potential drugs for treating
multiple myeloma."

Current research indicates that getting Resveratrol into your system is
desirable. Consuming enough wine or anything else in the quantities
needed to show an appreciable elevation in the blood is not feasible.
Supplementation in normal form leads to either low absorption of low
bio-availability. Resveratrol taken normally has a bio-availability
rate of about 5% of the dosage taken. With liposomal formulation,
we get over 85% percent bio-availability.
"The dietary polyphenol
resveratrol has been shown to have chemopreventive activity against
cardiovascular disease and a variety of cancers in model systems, but
it is not clear whether the drug reaches the proposed sites of action
in vivo after oral ingestion, especially in humans....Extremely rapid
sulfate conjugation by the intestine/liver appears to be the
rate-limiting step in resveratrol's bioavailability."

We have charted actual levels of Resveratrol circulating
in the blood stream for over 6 hours after a typical dosage of our Liposomal Resveratrol single nutrient formula.
By creating minute-sized particles of Resveratrol and encapsulating the
nutrient in liposomes, we offer a safe and effective way to
get all the benefits of supplemental Resveratrol in a liquid formula you
can take orally.
- Powerful Antioxidant
- Anti-Carcinogenic - has properties to prevent and actually reverse some cancers
- Central Nervous System - regulates hormones
- Natural Blood Thinning Agent
- Strengthens the Heart and Cardiovascular System - lowers risk of heart disease
- Rebuilds the Liver
- Reduces the risk of Alzheimer's Disease
- Helps in Recovery from Strokes
- Aids in Rehabilitation from Injuries and Trauma of Central Nervous System
- A Potential Aid to Anti-Aging and Life Extension
We offer Resveratrol in 3 of our Liposomal Formulas:
Besides
the Single Nutrient Formula, Resveratrol is an ingredient in our CAN-HELP
